About the Author
Ralph Stair is currently on the phased retirement program at Florida State University. He received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University, an MBA from Tulane University, and a Ph.D. from the University of Oregon.

He has taught at the University of Oregon, the University of Washington, the University of New Orleans, and the Florida State University. On two occasions, he taught several courses through Florida State University's Study Abroad Program in London. Over the years, his teaching and research have been concentrated in information systems.

Ralph Stair is a member of several academic organizations, including Decision Sciences Institute. He has published numerous articles and books, including Principles of Information Systems, Fundamentals of Information Systems, Succeeding With Technology, Introduction to Information Systems, Computers in Today's World, Principles of Data Processing, Learning to Live with Computers, Programming in BASIC, Essentials of BASIC Programming, Essentials of FORTRAN Programming, and Essentials of COBOL Programming.

Ralph Stair spends time in Florida and Colorado. He enjoys skiing, biking, kayaking, and other outdoor activities. Kenneth Baldauf managed the instruction of over 5,000 computer literacy students annually and brings additional practical experience and insight to the project. As the head of the computer literacy program at Florida State University, he has been instrumental in guiding computer literacy standards for Florida State University Students. For the past five years he has assumed full responsibility for the general computer literacy class, introductory computer class for business majors, and an advanced computer literacy class. He has written several Windows textbooks and contributed to the most recent Ralph Stair books.
