Book Description
Martin Arnold is one of Austria’s most prominent experimental filmmakers. His latest work, Deanimated: The Invisible Ghost, is a painting-over of the classical American horror film strip: As the action progresses, the protagonists are one by one digitally eliminated so that the film becomes progressively deserted. Through this process of “de-animation,” a new, more open and enigmatic version emerges from the former conventional suspense.

About the Author
Martin Arnold. Geboren 1959. Studierte Psychologie und Kunstgeschichte an der Universität Wien. Seit 1988 freischaffender Filmemacher. Gastprofessuren u.a. an der University of Wisconsin (1995), am San Francisco Art Institute (1996-97) sowie an der Academy of Fine Arts in Frankfurt (1998/99). Erhielt zahlreiche Auszeichnungen und Preise.
