It has been said that "Knowledge is power......... If that is true, Thayer's Birds of North America, Volume 2, is a virtual power plant in the world of bird identification.

WildBird Magazine, September, 1997, review by Kit Carlson
The combination of two of Thayer's CD-ROMs -- Birds of North America and Birder's Diary -- have everything you could want in birding software. In fact, I'm sure if I keep digging, I'll find a kitchen sink in there somewhere. Birds of North America and Birder's Diary work in tandem to help you create and manage detailed life lists, and handle troublesome identification problems; they'll even enable you to compare two different species side by side to be sure you're not confusing one bird with another. Birds of North America is a comprehensive piece of reference software, a cyber-field guide. It contains all 917 birds found in the United States and Canada (excluding Hawaii), plus a 317-bird-strong sampling from the Birds of the World. More than 2,800 photos let you see these birds in a variety of settings, seasonal plumages and ages, and a zoom feature lets you magnify those photos up to four times. You can even see individual feathers!
