About the Author
EDWARD R. RICCIUTI has written more than sixty books and thousands of articles for adults and young people on nature, science, the outdoors and conservation. His books include The Natural History of North America and The Audubon Society Book of Wild Animals (with Les Line). Among the magazines in which his work has appeared are Audubon, National Wildlife and Wildlife Conservation. He is also Children's Editor of Wildlife Conservation magazine. Ricciuti has worked with leading zoos and aquariums developing concepts and text for exhibit graphics. Former Curator of publications for The New York Zoological Society, Ricciuti produced and edited Connecticut Audubon magazine for several years. Ricciuti conducts extensive field work while researching his writing and has observed birds on five continents and on many islands.
