There Have Always Been Puffins
Editorial Reviews
Pittsburgh Magazine, January, 1998
Until I read There Have Always Been Puffins, I had a vague notion these funny-looking birds were mythological beings, kind of penguins with duck feet and a toucan beak. Wrong. Ba Rea and her sister, C.J., an Alaskan park ranger, have set me straight in this playful, fact-loaded tome, told partly from the viewpoint of Cid, a "veteran" tufted puffin...It's the kind of book an animal-obsessed child will want to read or be read to many times over.
From the Publisher
This is C.J. and Ba Rea's first book from a planned series on the creatures of the Kenai Fjords in Alaska. We think you will agree with Jim Pfeiffenberger, Discovery Program Coordinator of the Alaska SeaLife Center in Seward, Alaska, when he says: " There Have Always Been Puffins is beautifully illustrated and scientifically accurate. It's a wonderful way to introduce the world of puffins to kids of all ages. I love the way it combines the playfulness of a rhyming children's story with solid information about the natural history of puffins. I recommend it!"
Watch for the rest of the series to introduce you to many more of the creatures from Kenai Fjords.
