Nordic Mountain Birch Ecosystems
Editorial Reviews
Review
…This is an important book that has brought together studies on a distinctive but relatively little known ecosystem. The subarctic and arctic regions represent delicate ecosystems whose conditions are susceptible to change caused by both natural processes and human influences. Indigenous ecological and cultural knowledge, together with critical scientific assessment, is needed for the formulation of sound management plans for the future. The Man and the Biosphere Programme is to be congratulated for bringing together the expertise through which the sustainability of the distinctive mountain birch environment can be enhanced.
