This book provides a landmark in the evolution of a distinctive movement, perhaps even an emerging new philosophy within the practice of headwater management. The headwater control movement began in 1989 and has remained a typical environmental movement, in the sense of being ad hoc, multidisciplinary, integrative, practical, interventionist and, above all, `green'. In this book, the scattered supporters of headwater control reveal a shared vision of the way forward in headwater management, restoration and protection, presenting a clearer vision of the work that has to be done and a plan of campaign for the future.
