Book Description
An audio reference guide to the sounds made by 100 species of birds, mammals, frogs, and insects inhabiting the northwoods lake country wilderness. Includes a 60-minute audio compact disc and 40-page booklet. Each northwoods species is identified by name on the audio, followed by superb examples of its calls. The companion booklet provides written descriptions of each species' sounds along with habitat information and other interesting facts. "Northwoods" is defined as the transitional area where northern hardwood forest gradually gives way to the boreal evergreen forest. In the United States, this region stretches from Maine to Minnesota and includes lake country as well as high mountains, open bogs, upland meadows, and dense forest. In Canada, the northwoods stretches from Manitoba to the Maritime provinces. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.
