Lake Superior: Story and Spirit
Editorial Reviews
From Independent Publisher
Lake Superior: Story and Spirit could be called a coffee table book except for the fact that it's crammed with content. To be sure the book has the magnificent photographs that often grace a publication designed for a casual thumb-through, but the writing delivers to the reader a comprehensive look at the subject that is, of course, Lake Superior. The authors have covered every aspect of the Great Lake from the early great upheavals of planet Earth to the present day when the purity of the lake is threatened by the thoughtless and/or premeditated pollution of the water.Dealt with also is the history of the various groups of humans who lived near the lake and how they used the waters to further their own needs including the more modern day exploitation of the resources nearby Lake Superior. The book also has very valuable information for anyone who might like to visit the areas around the lake that takes in territory of the United States and Canada. After reading the book, it's almost impossible not to contemplate the possibility of visiting the area and sampling the beauty and the solitude now available around Lake Superior. If travel to the area isn't possible then Lake Superior: Story and Spirit is the absolute next best thing.
