Book Description
A dog gives its life to protect a baby from a fire. An abused woman learns about courage from a horse. Who are these animals that change - and even save - our lives? On Animal Wisdom, bestselling author Susan McElroy brings to life the amazing ways that pets, working animals, and creatures of the wild touch and transform the human world. An animal lover since childhood, McElroy has worked in kennels, zoos, veterinary clinics, humane societies, stables, and anywhere else she could get close to animals. Sharing stories from her own life and the lives of others, McElroy portrays animals not as playthings for our amusement, but as intuitive, loyal friends capable of great empathy and daring courage. Unforgettable for its cast of characters - four-legged and otherwise - Animal Wisdom is a vivid and moving tribute to the animals we love and learn from.
