About the Author
Bruce H. Robison received his Ph.D. from Stanford University, where he studied the ecology of deep-sea fishes. After a postdoctoral fellowship at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution he returned home to California and the University of California, Santa Barbara. In 1987, he joined the new Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute, where he is a senior scientist. Robisons research has taken him throughout the worlds oceans and its depth; he led the first team of scientists trained as submersible pilots, and he directed the first use of ROVs for midwater research.
Judith Connor received her Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley, where she studied marine ecology of tropical rocky shores. She is the author of Seashore Life on Rocky Coasts and co-author of Kelp Forests. As the director of the Information and Technology Dissemination Division at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute, she works with an incredibly talented team on a variety of science, technology and deep-sea-video projects.
