Gordon R. Carter, D.V.M., M.S., D.V.Sc. Dr. Carter is a Professor Emeritus of the Department of Biomedical Sciences and Pathobiology at the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, Virginia. Professor Carter, whose principal interest is pathogenic microbiology, has published many scientific papers and is the senior author of more than a dozen textbooks. He has served on the faculties of the University of Toronto and Michigan State University, and acted as a consultant on infectious diseases of animals for several international agencies in various countries of Asia, Africa, and South America.
Stephen M. Boyle, B.A., Ms., Ph.D. Dr. Boyle is a Professor of Microbiology in the Department of Biomedical Sciences and Pathobiology at the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Professor Boyle, whose principal research interests are microbial virulence mechanisms and the application of recombinant DNA technology to vaccine development, has authored numerous papers in the areas of microbial gene regulation. He has served on the Faculty of Medicine at Memorial University of Newfoundland, and is Vice-President of Veterinary Technologies Corporation, a biotech company located at the Virginia Tech Corporation Research Center and dedicated to the development and marketing of veterinary vaccines.
